Precision Textiles Offers Sustainable Bedding Solution – Nonwovens Industry Magazine

As part of its ongoing commitment to developing sustainable products that meet the needs of its customers, Precision Textiles, a leading supplier of coated fabrics, nonwovens and laminations to the bedding, automotive and health, launched a new product called PurLoft to help manufacturers meet consumer demand for natural, more sustainable mattresses.

PurLoft is an eco-friendly alternative to 100% synthetic fire barriers for bedding products. It is offered in different weights and made with renewable wool fibers, which are naturally flame retardant. Incorporating wool directly under the sleep surface provides a durable, high-performance alternative that not only meets FR standards, but also creates air pockets, which act as natural insulators to help regulate body temperature. PurLoft also offers superior moisture management as well as odor and allergen protection. Additionally, the naturally crimped wool fiber helps the products retain their shape longer, making them more durable.

“We have always been at the forefront of sustainable development. Our R&D team continues to work with this goal in mind and has once again developed an innovative solution, backed by service and quality, to demonstrate our continued commitment to the environment with products that help meet the needs of our customers,” said Scott Tesser, CEO. precision textiles.

“Wool’s inherent flame retardant properties make it a very effective and environmentally friendly solution for an FR barrier product,” says Keith Martin, vice president of Precision Textiles. “Wool helps to wick moisture away from the body. Unlike many synthetic fibers where the buildup of sweat can become a breeding ground for bacteria, the natural breathability of wool reduces the risk of the mattress giving off unpleasant body odors. We not only developed a more natural FR solution, but also a more comfortable sleeping experience.
