Piana Technology Achieves Recycled Claim Standard Certification – Nonwoven Industry Magazine

Piana technology, the 439-year-old textile company known for its innovations in the fiber and non-woven textile markets, has achieved Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) certification at its facilities in Piana Nonwovens. RCS is an internationally recognized standard that verifies recycled content and tracks it throughout the supply chain to the final product.

Developed by Textile Exchange, a global non-profit organization advancing preferred fibers and materials, the RCS certification has increased the use of recycled content in the textile industry. A recycled content claim can only be made for materials that have been recovered or otherwise diverted from the solid waste stream. The certification process requires partners to comply with standards at every step of the supply chain, starting with the raw material (or recycling) suppliers and ending with the end seller in a business-to-business transaction.

“This RCS certification is a big step forward in Piana Technology’s overall goal of achieving the sustainability of our materials and the circularity of our products. We will now have peace of mind knowing that the materials we buy have less impact than their conventional counterparts, pushing us By achieving RCS certification, Piana Nonwovens joins a growing group of eco-friendly organizations on the path sustainability, ”said Michael Savarie, sustainability manager at Piana Technology.

Newly certified facilities in Cartersville, GA, and San Luis, AZ, are qualified to receive, produce and sell RCS products that adhere to strict standards requirements. This enables the integration of recycled inputs into Piana Nonwovens’ manufacturing practices and green operations.
