As two stalwarts of Durham, NC’s eclectic dance community, who make very different types of music, James Mapley-Brittle and Nick Sanborn have crossed paths at many of the same parties over the years, but it was a conversation about their mutual love for the hour-long club music peak that ultimately brought them together to make Inertia. In the middle of the woods at Betty’s studio in Chapel Hill, they created not only a four-song EP thrilling enough for the height of their respective live sets, but a huge library of analog recordings – of which their favorite moments were honed in CONFIGURATION.
Inertia is out now through Psychic Hotline, and available for pre-order on limited vinyl. Along with its title track, “an energetic track that delivers trance-tinged techno” (Mixmag), Inertia Features “Storm,” “Interference” and “Air”, with the entire EP translated into stunning visual form through the illustrations of Eric Timothy Carlson and Aaron Anderson (Bon Iver, Boys Noize, Leon Vynehall).
