Apple hosted its most anticipated event on Tuesday where it launched several new products, including the iPhone 13 series and the Apple Watch 7 series, after months of speculation. While the new and improved models launched by the tech giant caught everyone’s attention during the livestream, it was the most unexpected tune played during the unveiling of the iPhone 13 that caused the fans to lose their cool. During the iPhone 13’s introduction at the live event, a clip from the 1971 song “Dum Maro Dum” by legendary composer RD Burman was played in the background. Hearing Burman’s iconic song at the global tech event was a surreal moment for many, including singer Usha Uthup, who wished the songwriter was alive to witness the moment. “This is a very special and golden moment for RD Burman. I wish he was alive to enjoy it,” Uthup told ETimes.

Delighted internet users quickly took to social media to express their surprise at finding a Bollywood connection at Apple’s 2021 launch event. From their reactions, it seems people are more excited about the ‘Dum Maro Dum’ reference sample than actual products that have been launched.

Filmmaker Ken Ghosh couldn’t believe his ear when he heard the song, so he took to Twitter to check it out.

“Did I just hear a ‘Dum Maro Dum’ inspired tune at the iPhone launch?” Ghosh tweeted.

Another joked that Bollywood doesn’t need a Grammy now. “The song ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ features in the Apple event. All of a sudden people are OMG A smiley face with open mouth and closed eyes The Bollywood song has worldwide recognition. I think they don’t even need a Grammy now, “another user tweeted.
