Amanda Gorman’s TIME Magazine Cover: Check Out the Poet’s Sunny Dress

Amanda Gorman gave us again another one reason to love him and his incredible sense of style. After making headlines as a fashion star during the presidential inauguration last month, she yellow dress on the cover of TIME Magazine just as viral. And for good reason too! This look is the burst of joy I needed to get through this week.

The National Young Poets winner spoke with none other than former First Lady Michelle Obama for the latest issue of TIME, produced in collaboration with Ibram X. Kendi. On the cover, which bears a proclamation of “The Black Renaissance”, Gorman stunned in a sunny yellow dress designed by Greta Constantin. Gorman’s look was designed by a famous stylist Jason Bolden, and the cover announcement comes just days before Gorman recites an original poem at Super Bowl LV this Sunday. Talk about a great start for her 2021!

I could talk about Gorman’s list of accolades any day of the week (like the fact that she has three poetry books that are currently available for pre-order, or that she personally knows Michelle Obama, but I digress.) I’m here today, though, to address her killer fashion sense.

Gorman is clearly a fan of the color yellow – she wore an equally bright dress yellow Prada coat at the inauguration— and given that neutrals and browns are all the rage in this very cold and gray winter, I’m all for it. If you see me in a sunny shade this summer, just know that Gorman was my inspiration.

BTW, Gorman could literally teach a masterclass in accessorizing. She wore a trendy red Prada headband in January, but this time opted for a slightly more minimal headwear. Gorman wore a gold necklace from KHIRY as a headband, as well as earrings from the same brand. Both are still available to stop and steal his gaze, FYI.

To see Gorman’s full TIME feature, in which she chats with Michelle Obama about everything from inauguration to poetry to family, head over to the journal’s website now. Catch me spending the next few months looking for as many vibrant yellow pieces as I assume Gorman has already hung in his closet. Amanda, if you see this, please teach me your manners.
